SARAH LOWNDES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>My professional background is in rooted in the humanities, specifically Art, Design and Cultural Studies<\/i> <i>and I have held lecturing positions at Glasgow School of Art (2002-2015), University of East Anglia<\/i> <i>(2017-2020) and Research Fellow, Norwich University of the Arts (2017-2023), while in 2025 I took up the role of External Examiner to the National College of Art and Design, Dublin.  In 2025, I qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse and since then have combined my practice as a Community Mental Health Nurse with ongoing writing, curatorial and educational projects. My teaching at HE<\/i> <i>level includes Art History (with a focus on post 1945 art and design), Art &amp; Design in Organisational<\/i> <i>Contexts (including Gallery and Museum Studies) and Critical and Creative Writing, including Empirical<\/i> <i>Research Methods. My single author books include Social Sculpture: The Rise of the Glasgow Art<\/i> <i>Scene (2004; revised 2010), The DIY Movement in Art, Music and Publishing (2016), Contemporary<\/i> <i>Artists Working Outside the City (2018) and Crowds, Community and Contagion in Contemporary<\/i> <i>Britain (2022). I have curated and produced numerous exhibitions and arts outreach projects, working<\/i> <i>extensively in non-academic contexts such as libraries, museums, galleries and the public sphere as<\/i> <i>part of my commitment to responsible and inclusive practices.
