Dr Sarah Lowndes<\/strong> is a Writer, Mental Health Nurse, Curator and Lecturer.\u00a0 Director of Kunsthalle Cromer, and External Examiner to the National College of Art and Design, Dublin her publications include Crowds, Community and Contagion in Contemporary Britain<\/em> (2022), Contemporary Artists Working Outside the City: Creative Retreat<\/em> (2018), The DIY Movement in Art, Music and Publishing<\/em> (2016), All Art is Political: Writings on Performative Art<\/em> (2014) and Social Sculpture: The Rise of the Glasgow Art Scene<\/em> (2010).\u00a0 Lowndes has curated and produced numerous exhibitions and arts outreach projects, working extensively in non-academic contexts such as libraries, museums, galleries and the public sphere as part of her commitment to responsible and inclusive practices. Since moving to Norfolk in 2015 she has worked with partners across East Anglia including Norfolk Museums, Norfolk County Council Libraries, Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, Kettle\u2019s Yard, Original Projects, Art at Work and The Assembly House.\u00a0 Under the auspices of Kunsthalle Cromer, Lowndes curated and produced Panoramic Sea Happening<\/em> (2017), Esplanade: A Procession for Women<\/em> (2018) and the writing and publication projects, Like the Sea I Think<\/em>\u00a0(2019),\u00a0Field Work<\/em> (2020) and The Sea Cure<\/em> (2021).\u00a0 Sarah qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 2025 and combines her practice as a Community Mental Health Nurse with ongoing writing, curatorial and educational projects.<\/p>\n
